Miscanthus ‘Gracillimus’ is perhaps the oldest cultivar of miscanthus sinensis and remains very popular to this day.
This large warm season grass is a favorite at Greenwood for its fine narrow foliage and gracefully round form. We use it in our gardens, and landscape as well as at water’s edge around the ponds. We find it to be drought tolerant and deer-resistant when mature and a complement to large-leaved plants or combined with berrying shrubs and evergreens for a great winter effect.
Maiden Grass blooms from mid to late fall and grows 4 to 6 feet tall and 4 feet around. We recommend 48 inch spacing between plants.
Grows from Zones 5-10 and is suitable for Coastal Gardens.

Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips:
Miscanthus is easy to grow and is a good choice for beginners. It will grow in almost any soil, from loose sand to heavy clay, and does not require good drainage. Grow this grass in full sun except in warmer regions where some afternoon shade is best. Fertilization is not necessary.
Divide Miscanthus in spring or early summer to give it time to establish its roots before winter arrives. Only in the mildest of climates should it be divided in the fall.
