NEW! - Karley Rose - Pennisetum orientale - If you’re a plants person like I am, you will absolutely adore this warm season show-stopper. Dark green foliage topped with long-blooming (June till frost), rose lavender plumes are what drew my eyes to it. I knew it was another of a long list of great plants that I had to add to the garden. I planted two Karley’s on a berm we have in the garden, on either side of a green lace leaf Japanese maple. As they grow the texture and pink plumes will really offset the green lace foliage of the Maple.

The plumes will stay around during the winter and then I will cut off the foliage to 6 inches from the top of the ground in early spring. Strolling in the garden in the fall and early winter, after the grasses turn their great yellow fall color, there is calming affect when the slight winter breezes create a gentle rustle in the spent grasses.
