English Ivy, or Hedera helix, is a hardy evergreen climbing vine or used as a groundcover that has dark green, glossy leaves. English Ivy grows 6 - 8 inches when used as a ground cover and can climb to 9 feet as a vine.
English Ivy has been recommended for use as a low maintenance alternative to lawns because it is evergreen, relatively pest free, very cold hardy and fast-growing groundcover that requires little care once established. Plant English Ivy 18 inches apart to create a carpet affect.
Plant spacings: Plant 18 inches apart, 100 plants cover a 225 square foot area. For larger jobs, plant bare root plants (same size without the pot) and save money. Bare root plants are professionally packaged with just the right amount of moisture to insure fresh delivery.
