Fargesia rufa, or Green Panda™ is a relative new comer to North America. A favorite diet of the giant panda in Western Sichuan, China this hardy clumping bamboo will be a great addition to your garden. Growing to eight feet in height the orange-red sheaths and deep green leaves will provide a nice hedge or screen at maturity when planted in groups.

This specimen is hardy to -15°F and grows well in zones 6 through 9 though extremely hot and humid sites should be avoided. Green Panda is sun tolerant and performs equally well in shade. If you are looking for a non-running evergreen to add color and flair to your garden or terrace this is the one. Buy early as this one will go fast.

Bamboo, often thought to be an exotic, is now becoming part of the new generation’s landscapes. The evergreen plants will arrive healthy and ready for planting. Should they die within the first year we will replace at one half the current member price plus shipping. Once planted with moderate care, just watering every five days or so and not fertilizing for the first year, the plants generally do well. The evergreens are a low maintenance, easy to grow; almost no care needed plant to own.
