NEW! Cypress Dwarf Golden Threadleaf Here is an easy to grow, attractive gold leaved, evergreen shrub displaying a weeping habit that will create interest and texture in your garden all year long. It is actually a brilliant yellow-gold all year round, never turning green (except in very deep shade).

Chamaecyparis pisifera filifera 'Aurea' Goldthread displays year round gold colored threadlike foliage with a dense, mounding growth habit. Height can be controlled by pruning yearly. Has rather loose, open growth. Good in large Oriental gardens.

It does not get sunburn even in full sun, like some of the other thread leaf cultivars. This plant, like all of the threadleaf cypresses, will eventually develop a central leader and attain some significant height.

It is easy to grow in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. It prefers moist, fertile soils. Considered a dwarf (in comparison to it’s larger growing relatives) but will make 3-4’ of growth in ten years and can grow 10 foot or more given enough time and space.

Care Instructions :

Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.

Shipped in ONE GALLON containers, Purchase in multiples for best value.

Available early March 2008. Book Early while supplies last.

The evergreen plants will arrive healthy and ready for planting. Should they die within the first year we will replace at one half the current member price plus shipping.

Once planted with moderate care, just watering every five days or so and not fertilizing for the first year, the plants generally do well. The evergreens are a low maintenance, easy to grow; almost no care needed plant to own.
