NEW! Cypress Dwarf Golden Threadleaf Here is an easy to grow, attractive gold leaved, evergreen shrub displaying a weeping habit that will create interest and texture in your garden all year long. It is actually a brilliant yellow-gold all year round, never turning green (except in very deep shade). Chamaecyparis pisifera filifera 'Aurea' Goldthread displays year round gold colored threadlike foliage with a dense, mounding growth habit. Height can be controlled by pruning yearly. Has rather loose, open growth. Good in large Oriental gardens.
It does not get sunburn even in full sun, like some of the other thread leaf cultivars. This plant, like all of the threadleaf cypresses, will eventually develop a central leader and attain some significant height.
It is easy to grow in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. It prefers moist, fertile soils. Considered a dwarf (in comparison to it’s larger growing relatives) but will make 3-4’ of growth in ten years and can grow 10 foot or more given enough time and space.
