We cannot ship any container plants with soil into CA,AZ,OR, and WA. For these states all plants will be taken out of containers, the soil shaken off of the roots, and then roots dipped in water retention gel, then wrapped with moist medium and packaged to insure fresh and live delivery. Dark Green Arborvitae, Nigra Arborvitae, Thuja Occidentalis 'Nigra', is commonly called Dark Green Arborvitae. Nigra Arborvitae or Dark Green Arborvitae is a beautiful pyramidal growing tree that makes excellent privacy hedges. As with most arborvitaes, the Nigra or Dark Green Arborvitae is a moderate grower. The dark green foliage is consistent and when planted for privacy hedge makes an appealing backdrop to more colorful shrubs and perennials. Typical mature width of the Nigra Arborvitae or Dark Green Arborvitae is 10 feet with a mature height of in the 20 to 30 feet tall range. Many arborvitaes are attractive to deer, so if you have a deer problem in your area, be protective with this plant variety.
Pruning of the Dark Green Arborvitae should be limited to only removing a damaged or broken branch. It produces a great conical shape and requires little attention.
Hollytone ™ or other fertilizer blend for evergreen plants can be applied. Follow directions on the fertilizer product label. It is not recommended to fertilize a new transplant until it has been in the ground for at least a year.
