Allium Millenium - Perennial Plant of the Year 2018
A butterfly magnet, the Allium Millenium is considered to be the best hybrid Ornamental Onion in years. Developed by Mark McDonough, the 2 inch rosy purple ball blooms appear on firm stems from mid to late summer. An excellent purple flowering perennial for beginning gardens. Easy to grow.
Upright clumps with shiny green leaves with light hints of onlin when crushed. Companion plants for the Millennium Allium are Cranesbill Geranium Biokovo, Moonshine Yarrow, and coreopsis.
To keep ornamental onions looking their best, lift and divide every 4 to 5 years. A choice plant for attracting insects to pollinator gardens.
