Mint Julep Plants For Sale
The Mint Julep Mint is a spearmint, mentha spicata, that is extremely popular for sauces, jellies, teas, fruit salads and, of course, drinks. This Mint Julep grows in the 12 to 18 inch height range wth a spread of up to 3 feet. While this spearmint is very easy to grow, it is still a mint and you will want to keep it contained in pots so the plants do not creep out and onto the ground where it can become invasive. The Mint Julep Mint blooms in summer and attracts bees and butterflies, plus is deer resistant.
Believed to originate in the southern United States during the 18th century, US Senator Henry Clay of Kentucky, introduced the Mint Julep drink to Washington, DC at the Round Robin Bar in the Willard Hotel.
Since 1938, Churchill Downs as promoted the Mint Julep drink in association with the Kentucky Derby. For more history on the Mint Julep Drink visit Wikipedia.
