Emerald Green Arborvitae, also known as "Smaragd". are one of Greenwood's favorite low growing arborvitae. The Emerald Green Arborvitae grows almost perfectly pyramidal with almost no pruning at all. It has a very bright green color and appears to have a tinge of gold to it if the sun hits it just right. This pyramidal beauty grows to a height of 10 to 15 feet, with a spread of 3 to 4 feet. It displays its bright lustrous emerald green foliage color all year, and doesn't discolor in winter. The Emerald Green Arborvitae is very compact and tight grow make it an excellent choice for a privacy screen when spaced 2 to 3 feet apart in the row. 

Although not drought-tolerant, Emerald Green Arborvitae does fine in full sun (it doesn't mind partial shade though). Grow in well-drained soil.
