Invincibelle Mini Mauvette® Hydrangea | Dwarf Hydrangea -

Pre-order Now until March 30th! Orders will ship out beginning shipping late April 2025.

This mini hydrangea is unlike anything that you’ve ever see, and for good reason too. It is an unbelievably hardy plant that is resistant to bad pruning and blooms every year, even in chilly climates. It is quite similar to the classic and loved Annabelle hydrangea but with deep purple flowers instead of the plain white blossoms. The hydrangea flowers sit atop strong stems that do not flop. Bloom time for the mauvette begins in early summer and given the fact that it is a rebloomer, runs through fall.

The mini mauvette® is a dwarf shrub hydrangea that only grows as high as 36 inches, making it just right for any landscape. It grows well in part to full sun. In the hot summer weather, it could use some afternoon shade, but we recommended a minimum of 6 hours of exposure so that it develops strong stems and abundant, colorful blooms.

Growing Hydrangea

Caring for the smooth leaf hydrangea is quite easy: prune by cutting back about a third of the plant’s height in early spring when new growth starts appearing on the stems. This helps the plant develop a strong base and also encourages energetic regrowth with a lot more flowers for a grander look when blooming.

To maintain good growth, apply a generous layer of mulch to the root area (ideally 2-3” thick). This helps conserve the soil moisture, but also prevents vigorous growth of the shallow roots of the plant. If you want to fertilize, the best time is in spring after the ground thaws, but just before beginning of the new growth.

The dwarf flowering shrub hydrangea is ideal for use as an edging or border plant, mass planting, or for growing in a container. It is perfect for adding color and variety to any flower garden, and the long stems make for great flower cuttings too.
