Description
Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry -
Morus nigra is the sweetest of the mulberry varieties and one of the easiest to grow fruit trees in pots with minor pruning. Spring to summer blooms have this dwarf mulberry producing fruit continually (late spring into summer) when planted in sun filled areas of the garden or landscape.
Mulberries are self pollinating so while only 1 is needed for fruit production, plant several for making jams or juice. Berries are formed on new growth. Prune back to shape over late winter to early spring. Feed the tree during the growing season with balanced fertilizer, liquid seaweed or adding aged compost to the soil. Plant in full sun in well draining soil. Protect container growing plants by wrapping the containers during the coldest parts of winter to protect the roots from the freeze and thaw cycles.
